SACAP : Call for nominations to serve on 5th Term Council

CALL FOR SACAP COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) 5th Council to serve a four-year term of office commencing on 15 April 2018 and ending on 14 April 2022.
In terms of Section 4 of the Architectural Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 44 of 2000) (the Act), a call for nominations are invited from SACAP recognised Voluntary Associations (VA’s), Registered Persons and the State, as stated in the prescribed terms of the Composition of Council Clauses 3 (1) (a) & (b) to be appointed as Council Members to the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
The Council shall comprise of the following members, appointed by the Minister of Public Works, in terms of Clause 3 (1):
a) Seven registered persons, excluding candidates, of whom at least four must actively practise in the architectural profession –
(i) who must be nominated by the voluntary associations and any registered person;
(ii) who must represent the categories of registered persons contemplated in Section 18, in the prescribed manner, and
(b) Two professionals in the service of the State nominated by any sphere of government, of whom at least one must be nominated by the department; and
(c) Two members of the public nominated through an open process of public participation.
In December 2000, the President assented to legislation providing for the establishment of Councils for the professions of architecture, construction management, engineering, landscape architecture, property valuers and quantity surveying. These Councils were established in August 2001 and replaced the previous statutory Councils and boards for these professions. The SACAP Council will meet at least four times per year and will be supported by administrative staff. The term of office for the 5th Term Council is four years commencing on 15 April 2018. Each nomination must be in writing and must contain the following information in the detail required by SACAP.
- Nominator information - name & surname, contact details of the nominating person or organization.
- Nominee information - name & surname, all contact details, address, identity number, category of registration, gender, race, disability, province in which the nominee resides.
- A declaration, signed by the nominee that he/she is prepared to serve on the council and/or any of its Committees and is not disqualified from serving on the Council.
- Motivation for the appointment of the nominee to Council (not exceeding one page).
- A short Curriculum Vitae of the nominee (not exceeding two pages).
Nominations should reach SACAP at the address below no later than 18 November 2017 @ 16h00. No late submissions will be accepted.

**note: non-SA citizens, un-rehabilitated insolvents, persons convicted of serious offences (excluding political offences), persons found guilty of improper conduct and persons removed from an office of trust are not qualified to serve as members of the Council.
